Quintin Fawcett leads the way at 2023 IFAA Champs

Congratulations to all our fearless archers who showed up in some pretty hazardous driving conditions to shoot the 2023 Provincial IFAA Championships at SNAC today!

There were many good performances today, with several PBs, including Quintin Fawcett’s 299 / 300 in the U18 Compound Division.

The Recurve Division was led by Shane Bryson (267/300) and Pam LeClair (266/300)

Our club results are listed on the link below; full provincial results will be available on Archery Ontario’s website.

Our next tournament is the Provincial 10-Ring Championship week starting on Monday, February 20th.  See our Events Calendar for details.

PBs shot at SNAC January WA18M

Congratulations to all our competitors today.  We had a good turn-out as people come back to competition after the COVID-19 break.

Today, we had 2 outstanding performances:

Quintin Fawcett CPD M CDT shot 283/287, the 2nd round is a PB

Serenity Last REC F CDT shot 266(PB)/255, total 521 is a PB

We had many people who had not been able to shoot a 60-arrow round in over 2-3 years – so congrats for surviving!  🙂

Our next tournament is the provincial IFAA championships on Sunday, January 29th.  We have only 1 spot available on the 2pm line.

Millar Coaches at 2019 World Team Training Camp

In preparation for the National Compound Archery Team’s participation in The Netherlands in June, Kathleen Millar (women’s coach) and Sean McKenty (head coach) lead a national team training camp hosted by Sean and Fiona in the Windsor area on May 13-14, 2019.

All women team members will be present for the registered tournaments and simulations.  For the men’s team, everyone  except for Brendan von Richter from Victoria will be present.

The men’s team of Brendan, Robbie Nott and Austin Taylor reprises the team that Kathleen led during the 2018 World Cup at Salt Lake City.  The women’s team sees the return of Fiona McClean and Fiona Maude, along with Katie Roth.  It will be a solid, experienced team.

2019 Candle-Masters Congratulations

There was no dominant archer this year in the advanced classes.  And though we had a lot of arrows pass through the flame, only the following archers put it out without touching the candle itself.  One candle each for:

Compound archers

Emma McMillan, Hannah Rousseau, Bill Mackey and Hester Grodde.

Recurve archers

Pam Leclair, Bob Kerr and Luke Seldenthuis

Congratulations to all students!

Mohamed El-Halawani shoots PB at February WA18m

Congratulations to all our participants as we welcomed 3 new archers to our tournaments.  Welcome back to Crystal Foster who has been unable to shoot tournaments for over a year.

Special shout-out to Mohamed El-Halawani (SR M Rec) who shot a PB 552 on the round today.

South Nation Archery Hosted National Paralympic Mixed Team Training Camp

Kathleen Millar and SNAC hosted the small, but important national team training camp June 25-28.  The National Para Mixed Team, comprising of Karen Van Nest and Kevin Evans, trained and simulated competition in preparation for a Paralympic World Ranking Event in the Czech Republic starting on June 30th.

As part of the pre-event camp, national Team Leader Duncan Crawford (PEI) attended as well.  Other team support members were able to attend also.

In order to simulate match play for Karen and Kevin, Kaity Horlock, Hannah Rousseau, Alexandra Paquette and Robin Horlock all participated in the Round Robin and Super-team eliminations.  Thank you for volunteering!  To thank our volunteers, Larry grilled a great smorgasbord of delights to go with all the salads.

Good luck to our Canadian Paralympic Mixed Team in the Czech Republic!

2018 OFSSA Archery Tournament Participants Highly Successful

Kathleen has trained local high-school aged archers during these years to take advantage of this unique opportunity; Ontario is the only province running a high school archery championship.

The archers were very successful!  CONGRATULATIONS!

Alexandra Paquette Silver Medallist at the Youth World Championships

On October 5th in Rosario, Argentina at the Youth World Championships, Alexandra Paquette won all her passes and shot against an archer from Great Britain for the gold medal on Saturday, October 7th.  We watched the it live on archery.tv.  The wind was a bit tricky standing up on that bridge.  Alexandra shot well and earned the silver medal.
